NEIGHBOURHOOD
LEARNING CENTRE
Studio Sense
The project involves designing a Neighbourhood Learning Centre within the proposed USJ14 Park plan. Students are expected to develop comprehensive design proposals that integrate insights from site analysis and precedent studies. The goal is to create narratives that resonate with the local environment and community, exploring how building enclosures can be designed to minimize environmental impact. This will involve using various complex spatial organizations and passive strategies for sustainable design. The final design should blend seamlessly with the site, contributing positively to the environment and offering meaningful spaces that foster a strong sense of community.

Reflection
In this project, I gained valuable insights into implementing green building strategies, specifically focusing on minimizing the reliance on air conditioning by optimizing natural ventilation and other passive cooling techniques. This experience deepened my understanding of sustainable design, allowing me to explore how building orientation, material selection, and enclosure design can work together to create comfortable indoor environments without constant mechanical intervention. Additionally, I developed a more comprehensive knowledge of building construction, learning how different construction methods and materials can enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of a structure.
