Introduction to Spatial Design

This subject teaches students to the key principles and vocabulary of spatial design, which cut across traditional design disciplines including architecture, interior design, and landscape design. Its goal is to use various design jobs and projects to investigate space and its relevance to human activities. The focus throughout the workshop will be on the development of concepts in terms of visual thinking and model construction.

Project I:
Design Elements

Project I is designed to convey and identify the main elements of form in the order in which they develop from a point to a one-dimensional line, a two-dimensional plane, and a three-dimensional volume. In the lexicon of architectural design, each element is first considered as a conceptual element, then as a visual element.

Project II:
Design Principles

Project 2 extends on Project 1 by introducing and identifying the architectural and design elements involved in exploiting and constructing order in an architectural composition and spatial arrangement. Order is a condition in which each portion of a whole is appropriately organised with regard to other parts and its purpose in an effort to accomplish a harmonious arrangement.

Project III:
Head-Space Cube

The goal is to create a venue for the user/client, who is one of the characters from the film "INSIDE OUT."
Based on the students' interpretations and results, the space should embody and reflect the user's/features, client's traits, behavioural acts, and habits.
